Hello, Patty! How are you?
Our bodies eventually get used to anything we use for a long period of time and that causes it to become less effective, however, there is no precise time frame that can be given, it varies form person to person. It may take a few months, or it could work for you for years, there's no way to know.
The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including headache, diarrhea, dizziness and back pain.
Is there anything else I can help with?
