MY KIDS ARE OVER WAIGHT A DOCTOR GAVE THEM THIS PILL TO LOOSE WAITHT. AND THEY BEEN LOOSING ALOT OF WAIGHT MY DOUGHTER LOSE SO FAR ABOUT 50 POUNDS MY SON ABOUT 40. AND NOW I'M JUST FINDING OUT THAT THIS PILL IS FOR KIDS WITH ADHD PROBREMS. MY KIDS THEY DON'T HAVE THAT SICKNESS.I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYBODY KNOWS SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I ASKED THE DOCTOR, BUT HE JUST SAY THAT THE PILL IS WORKING FINE. THAT IS MAKE MY KIDS LOOSE WAIGHT BECAUSE THET ARE OVER WAIGHT. I DON'T LIKE THAT ANSWER. AND YES IS TRUTH I'M HAPPY TO SEE MY KIDS THEY ARE LOSING WAIGHT, BUT AT THE SAME TIME NOW I'M WORRY BECUSE I DON'T WANT THEY GET SOMETHING ELSE WORSE THEN OVER WAIGHT. SO PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW IF ANY ONE ELSE KNOWS SOMETHING REFERRING TO THIS MEDICINE PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU.

You will find that many medications have multiple uses and this is one of them. Amphetamine salts are stimulants that can be used to treat many conditions, including ADHD, Narcolepsy and Obesity.

The drugs your kids are taking is basicly generic adderall, this medication as the person before said that lots of meds have multiple use's, this medication has a very high abuse potential. Its street name is speed, this drug is almost the same as methamphetamine so be very careful about who knows your children and you are prescribed this Med.

Why would you call ADHD a sickness? Were not sick. Its like saying someone with cancer has a cold. It's wrong. Also Pay attention to grades and other activitys. Im sure you can notice more than weight loss if you pay attention. I been on this medication for a few years alog with other before this. It works wonders, you dont have to be so closed minded about it. Alot more people have ADHD or ADD than you may think its just not put out for gossip. Its keep quiet so we dont have to hear uninformed people say we have a sickness.

I too have ADD. I don't think this she meant to say sickness. You can tell by the way she wrote. I give her credit for trying to write properly. But like said before, Adderall is used as an ADD/ ADHD medication aswell as a medication to help with obesity. I as a parent would not choose a pill to help their situation. Adderall makes people, who don't have a chemical imbalance, very hyper which can also give irregular heart beat and can lead to other problems. You should talk with your doctor about putting the children on individual diet plans. Since they both have lost a significant amount of weight, I think its safe for then to stop. This drug can be very addictive.

This medicine when it first came out a long time ago was called dexatrim and was used for weight loss. It was over the counter and they found out that some people were abusing it so now it needs a prescription. They also found out that it helps people pay attention better and it is now used almost just for that. It is pretty safe if you follow the directions on the bottle.

I'm not the type be out spoken I leave my opinions to myself. But when it involves a innocent & helpless child. As a parent it's our responsibility to take care of our kids needs and to ALWAYS keep they're VERY best interest a priority. With that being sad it's so disturbing to me as a mom that you didn't take the time to ask questions & research a NEW medication being prescribed that it's purpose was to help your kids loose weight. Assuming this wasn't the first time they're weight was a concern and again assuming that the doctor didn't choose a controlled substance as the first option. Diet, exercise, lifestyle changes , ect. Me and my 5yr old are both diagnosed with ADHD. I'm on Adderal xr however because I know 1st hand what side effects are and all the risks that come with short term and long term use. I've chosen to do alternative therapies other than medication to help with my daughters daily obstacles. And a stimulant will be my VERY last choice. I hope you do your research before making any decisions concerning your Children's health and well being. Obesity is a epidemic how ever it can be reversed without ever taking any "magical" fix all pill. I'm just really truly disturbed on so many levels. Shame on that doctor for NOT informing you and educating you about this medication. Just because doctors are medically educated people, it doesn't mean they have compassion or they're patients best interest in mind. The saying goes "NO question is a stupid question." keep that in mind in the future pertaining to your kids most importantly. I would definitely recommend having they're doctor taper down the dose. And I'd suggest in the meantime you research what can be expected when getting off (any) controlled substance because it causes the body to physically with draw. I pray that you nor your children suffer And continue a long and healthy life.

How old were u when u started drinking the pills?
