I started this drug on April 22, taking 2 pills in less than 7 hrs, according to drs. instructions then 1 every 12 hrs, finishing on evening of April 28. Given drug for kidney infection and have never had this med before. Extremely concerned about warnings that came with it but had what I found out later to be serious side effects, i.e. cramping in legs and soaking night sweats, which are still continuing as of this date,this being my biggest concern. Drenching bed each night, changing clothes. Slight palm itching left hand and arm that is just beginning today. I am 71 yrs old, allergic to many meds and have a fatty liver and emphysema among other things. Concerned about effects on organs from this dangerous medication, but the horrible night sweats are not slowing down and I need to know if this is permanent? Also having a bit of neuropathy symptoms in left arm as well. I cannot see how steriods and Benadryl can stop the instense night sweats. My internal thermostat seems to be broken. Is there a cure for the sweating or will it eventually wear itself out? I am exhausted from dealing with it on a nightly basis. I consulted my pharmacist but have not contacted my doctor yet.

Wow, Judy, I am so sorry about what you've been through.
Really, at your age, this medication probably shouldn't have been prescribed for you. It is not recommended for use in elderly people, because they tend to suffer more serious side effects and reactions to it.
How are you feeling now?
You really do need to talk to your doctor about these problems.
