Criteria For Prescription Oxycodone

Today I went into a pharmacy that is located inside a hospital where I go to see my surgeon whom I've been seeing for 2 years now for a severe spinal injury and spondylolisthesis. After a 25-minute wait the pharmacist came to me and said he can't fill it because I don't meet the criteria. I asked him what he meant by criteria I didn't know you needed a criteria to get medication he proceeded to tell me he didn't have to give that information. I've been there one time before and they filled it it wasn't early he told me he called the doctor and the script was fun I don't abuse my medication. I chose to use that Pharmacy cuz it's much easier considering I have to take two buses each way and I am in severe pain. Can anybody tell me have they ever heard of this before or has it happened to anyone very confused and kind of disgusted any information would be helpful

Each pharmaceutical manufacturer is given a certain allotment of any controlled substance that they are allowed to manufacture each year, once that limit is reached, they are done for the year, and each pharmacy is limited on how much they can order and keep in stock each month, once they run out, they cannot order more, until the following month. This is due to DEA directives and it has caused most pharmacies to limit who they can fill such prescriptions for and why they can fill them.

Some of them will only fill for those that live within a certain radius of their general area, only filling them for certain doctors they can verify things with, or having to turn away customers, once they run out.
