Cost Of Xifaxan

My doctor put me on Xifaxan 3 X daily for 14 days because he had no samples. Walgreens called to inform me my copay is $844.00 which I can't pay! I know this works for SIBO bc I've had samples from him before. The cost of this antibiotic is excessive!

I have now spoken with 3 pharmacist about coupons etc about cost of this Xifaxin! Without my Part D plan my insurance said my cost would be $4500. 14 days supply! Even the insurance rep tried to help but nothing anybody can do.
Across the board this medicine is too costly!
Many people have SIBO/ IBS & need this med. Our government should step up & help the seniors with these Big Pharm. Unless you are on Medicaid or have SSI or other subsidy you are screwed. Most seniors are barely making it on minimum social security as it is. My cost for Xifaxan 844.14 day. 1 drug. I take our meds too & have to pay medical premiums part B D & secondary coverage. All out of a minimal SS check.
Outrageous.

The manufacturer of Xifaxin does have an assistance program that you can apply for, some even help, if you have insurance.

You can learn more here regarding the programs available, and how to apply. Usually, you can also still use an assistance card, such as the one offered on the pages of this site, if it makes something cheaper than your insurance copay.

The FDA warns that the side effects of Xifaxan may possibly include: nausea, constipation, bloating, gas, fainting, and skin redness.

When my husband's employer was switching insurance providers, and we had to pick up a medication in the interim, the discount card took it from over $300 down to only $12, so they are well worth checking out.

Have either of you tried the discount cards, yet?
