Converting Adderall Ir Dosage To Dexedrine Ir

I currently take Adderall IR 20MG twice daily.

My question is this: How many MG of Dexedrine IR would be equal to Adderall IR 20MG?

How do you convert Adderall IR 20MG to Dexedrine IR 20MG?

Usually, these medications are considered equivalent in dosages, so a 20mg dose of one would require a 20mg dose of the other to be therapeutically equivalent.

The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, weight loss, irritability, and other mood changes.

What dosage your doctor recommend?

The old name for the dexedrine IR was called dextrostat. The dexedrine does not last as long but has a much smoother taper IMHO.

The doses are for most intent and purposes similar. I would recommend getting 10 mg stats (lowest dose) until you get used to the subtle differences.

Unfortunately the adderall from barr was a better option.

That isn't a simple relationship. And current IR dextroamphetamine is Zenzedi as they took over the market when Dexedrine dropped the IR drug.
Most people would find an equivalent dose of Zenzedi to be a little bit stronger than Adderall IR. Because Dextroamphetamine is much stronger and Levo tends to target the cardiovascular system more. (oversimplification but generally true) But, some people do respond better to adderall 75/25 dextro to levo (total from different salts). And 15% of people respond better to Evekeo which is 50/50 mix of dextro and levo. So, it depends on how you respond to the different drugs for one thing.

2nd, more important is which generics are being compared. Most generics of amphetamine based drugs suck. If you were on a bad Adderall brand and got a good dextro brand, you could end up way overstimulated. Or were on a good Adderall generic then switched to a bad dextro based one, it could feel like a placebo.

If you were a typical responder and say only took brand name ever. Roughly, I'd say the dextro would be about 16 to 17mg = 20 Adderall.
Of course every one is different.
I found dextro (at the time Dexedrine was still the IR brand) to be a little bit stronger than Adderall, but definitely noticeable. Can't say which generic brand of Dexedrine I had. Did take Shire or Barr Adderall back then which were both considered good brands and Shire in particular was the brand name equivalent generic.
But, Adderall for me was smoother as the 4 mixed salts did not have the exact same metabolism and half lives so the onset and offset was a smoother transition where as the 100% dextro was more like a light switch on and off.
