Contrave Vs Belviq (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Updated

I was on free 2 weeks of Belviq followed by 1 mo out of pocket Belviq. Lost and felt good with NO side effects at all. Then my doctor said she thought Contrave would be a better choice because it is just as effective, if not more, and cheaper...just 70 dollars a month. But, I have heart racing and feel agitated. I did not experience either with Belviq. I feel like calling my Dr. Back and asking to switch back and suck up the 200 mo. For Belviq.

I was on Contrave for weight loss, but did not experience any side effects except dizziness & heart racing only when I did not consume enough food. Contrave did not work for me after the 2nd month. Both Contrave and Belviq do come with a savings card. Without insurance, my cost was $80 monthly. With insurance, it's now $30 for Belviq.

Naltrexone/wellbutrin is definitely used for weightloss.

Your DOCTOR said this? I think I'd find a new dr!! Asap. There are ZERO opiates in that medication. I'm a nurse. Your dr sounds like an uneducated *****! Scary!

How are you only paying $70? Even using the manufacturer coupon, it is $267 for me. Tell me your secret.

Contrave is for weight-loss. I am deciding weather to start it or not. They say it's totally safe, of course they have to put the potential side effects.

82$ with belviq with savings card, and yes Contrave is the name the components are Wellbutrin and Naltrexone but the two separately don't necessarily make a country's contrave is formulated and compound in a way it's very different. I've tried both I prefer contrave I'm now on Belviq because of upcoming medical procedures so far but about a week haven't noticed much but willing to stick it out it took a month or so long contrave to really feel the effects o still trying

I literally just filled my Belviq prescription and I paid nothing out of pocket. Between my insurance and a savings card off the website. So far no side effects and no cravings.

I paid $130 for belviq, after the coupon card and I gained weight using it... just started contrave so I will just have to "weight" (haha) and see how it goes!

BTW, Contrave cost me $95.

Be nice or don't post. Why would you think this person was a drug rep? Seriously, lighten up.

Just to reiterate what someone else said...you should not take contrave if you are on opiates for pain. Contrave contains naltrexone which is used for the purpose of reversing an overdose of opiates so it blocks opiates from being able to work. If you are on opiates and take naltrexone you will go inot withdrawls. So you may think you are having side effects of the Contrave and you kind of are, but really it is the Contrave blocking your opiate medication from working. Just a side note for anyone considering Contrave who also takes opiate pain medication.

Hi, this is the second time I've read a post here stating that Contrave is basically the same exact drug as Suboxone. I do not think that is accurate whatsoever. I cannot find anywhere on the internet that backs that information up. I'm sure it confused & misled many others as it did me.

I have been on Contrave ER for 3 months. When I got to the maxium recommended dose, I felt horrible. I was dizzy, felt like I was going to faint, anxious, constipated, and definitely could not drink even 1 cup of coffee in the mornings without being terribly jittery. I tried reducing the dose to reduce symptoms. It has helped, but the 10 lb weight loss isn't worth feeling bad to me. I have my follow up appointment with my doctor. I may see if she recommends Belviq. Anyone else have these issues with Contrave? I pay $90/month with coupon. Insurance would not cover it because my BMI was below 30.

I'm looking to try one either contrave or belviq. I was on phentermine and topiramate and they were working great, appetite suppressant i was not getting up in the middle of the night looking for candy but the one draw back was the dry mouth was so bad that my dentist said I would eventually start losing my teeth and eventually bone. so i had to stop. has anyone had any dry mouth with either contrave or belviq?
