Contrave And High Fat Foods (Page 3)

I ate a high fat meal (stuffed baked potato) tonight and am wondering when it is safe to take my evening dose of Contrave. All the warnings say is do not take with a high fat meal. Well, how long do you have to wait? There is no information on that! Has anyone heard?
Ive been on Contrave almost 2 yrs. The point to Contrave is to maje better decisions, but we all have the high fat at sometime or another, id be safe and skip if it is otger your calorie intake. Probably better safe than sorry.... I do know the side effects of Medicine with a high fat meal can be really bad!
I've been on Contrave for over a year and have lost all the weight I needed to lose. I have however stayed on it to maintain my weight. ( But I dropped it down to 2-3 tablets a day) I have never taken my pills together I have always taken my pills at least 3 - 4 hours apart. That's what works for me. I told my doctor and he was surprised at first but he said if it works then continue doing what you are doing.
I have been taking Contrave for two weeks. I love it, the first week I lost 7 pounds. In the morning I take with a high protein low fat shake. In the evening I do not eat high fat foods and I have had no trouble.
My doctor told me if the nausea gets too bad after bumping up to 2 pills at a time to return to one pill per dosage. She said some people can't tolerate 2 pills at a time, regardless of how long they have been taking Contrave.
I often take one in the morning an one at lunch. It seems if I only take 3 a day I don't get a headache. My doctor told me I don't have to take the full dose
I have only been on Contrave a week, but I experienced extreme nausea when I ate a meal that was in high in fat. For 4-5 days, I ate low fat and had no problems, but over the weekend, I didn't do as well....The side effects were terrible. I guess the medicine works two ways--helps with the addiction and if you "slip" you'll be sick, so you avoid the high fat foods, which is the point.
Does anyone know if I can take my contract morning dose (2 pills) a few hours apart? As soon as I bumped up to the two pills in the morning, the nausea was unbearable. I'm wondering if I space the two "morning dose" pills apart, if I will get less nauseous? Does anyone know the answer to this, or does anyone know if it's "okay" for me to do this?
So --- I asked my doctor and he said for the "high fat" to be the high fat noted in the cautions it would have to be something like two full double cheese burger meals at one of the fast foods places. He said that with a very high fat content in your stomach when you take the Contrave you will absorb more of the Contrave and it could be a lot more --- which could cause problems..... he said the likelihood of having the circumstance is minimal --- but that is the origin or concern about the high fat issue.
Hi I've been taking contrave for about two months now and lost over 20# but the side effects are very bothersome can I stop taking it without have any withdrawal symptoms?
I went through the same thing. I even contacted the Marketing Director, Zach Sussman, on June 17 2015 and asked for information and guidance as to fat consumption. He replied that he would pass it on to the appropriate person and to allow one week for a reply. To date I have yet to hear from anyone I sent a second request on July 1. Still no reply.. What are they hiding??
I spoke to a consultant at Takeda today and they recommended that I call my dr. But the problem would be that the doctor would read the prescribing info and not find the answer and have to call Takeda. It's a total catch 22!
Hello, MrsMeck! How are you?
Have you tried asking your doctor?
Unfortunately, I'm only finding the same thing you are, not to take it with a high fat meal, but no specific time frame. Taking it with a high fat meal creates the risk of seizures.
Other typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness and anorexia.
Does anyone know more?
