Contrave And High Fat Foods (Page 2)
UpdatedI ate a high fat meal (stuffed baked potato) tonight and am wondering when it is safe to take my evening dose of Contrave. All the warnings say is do not take with a high fat meal. Well, how long do you have to wait? There is no information on that! Has anyone heard?
I actually took my medication with a high fatty meal and ended up in the bathroom for awhile. It will definitely make you rethink and I dont think a baked potato would count for high fatty meal.
I just started taking this med. I have not had any problems in the morning I take it and eat 4 boiled egg (no yolk) and drink a whole bottle of water.

Hi. I ate a high fat meal before reading these and realizing it was a bad idea. About to start week 3 and had not eaten a high fat meal until yesterday. I had a burger that had bacon and fried onions on it..... I payed for that. Really bad headache and nausea. I hadn't really had much side effects before that. On the positive side those symptoms will definitely make me think twice about eating like I used to!
UPDATE...I'm on my 2nd week 2 pills twice a day and still have not had any problems. I'm down 9.4 lbs. My daily meals are breakfast 4 boiled eggs no yolk or I make omlete with lean taco meat lunch salad with cut up baked chicken breast with homemade dressing dinner has been the same salad or fish with cauliflower and broccoli. I've had steak and broccoli and so far I'm doing great. Today I will see my doctor since starting the pill
Any experiences with healthy fat foods? Avocados, eggs, cheese, nuts, olive oils? Just trying to get a good grocery list of ok foods. Thanks in advance

- Lean meats are Beef USDA or tenderloin, round steak with fat trimmed 1oz
- Fresh ham, candian bacon, tenderloin center pork loin 1oz
- Lamb 1oz
- Veal 1 oz
- Chicken or turkey (white meat / no skin), Cornish hens (no skin) 1oz.
- Fresh or frozen cod, flounder, haddock, halibut, trout, tuna (canned in water/oil) 1oz.
- Herring fish uncreamed or smoked 1oz
- Oysters 6 medium 1oz
- Salmon, catfish 1oz
- Sardines canned 2 medium
- Duck or pheasant (no skin), vension, buffalo, ostrich 1oz.
- Clams, crab, lobster, scallops, shrimp 1oz
- Cheese with 1 gram of fat or less per oz, fat-free (or low-fat 4.5%) cottage cheese 1/4c.
- Fat-free or low-fat cheese (with 3 grams of fat or less per oz) 1oz.
- Processed meat with 1 gram of fat or less per oz (boars head) deli thin, shaved meat, chipped beef, turkey 1oz.
- Egg whites 1 boiled equal 2 white equals 1/4 cup of egg beater
- Grated Parmesan 2 tbsp
- Hotdog (with 3 grams of fat or less per oz) 1oz
- Processed meat (with 3 grams of fat or less per oz) 1oz
I eat 6 oz from one listed above a day.

From the 1st list I posted I eat 10 oz split into 2 meals. I either saute, bake, broil, or pan fry with light PAM

Veggies are: artichoke, brussel sprouts, green beans, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, eggplant, green onions or scallions, green (turnip, collard, kale, mustard), lettuce, mixed veggies without carrots, peas, corn, or pasta), mushrooms, pea pods, peppers, raddish, spinach, tomatoes - no tomato sauce, zucchini.
I eat 4-5 servings a day with my meats. 1 serving is 1/2 cup cooked or 1 cup raw.

I know this is an older post but hopefully it gets back to you. I find taking Bonine, which helps with nausea a little bit before I take Contrave helps me a lot. I space my pills out so the side effects are not so bad.
I am about to start my 3rd week on Contrave. I have had mild to no side effects. Occasional slight headache and a little constipation and gas. I have lost 16lbs in the first 2 weeks. I have adjusted my eating habits out of fear of too much fat intake and also out of a reason to become more healthy. I have felt the need to exercise while taking Contrave and hope that it keeps working. I've had a libido drop but think it will be fixed once I start my regular exercise regimen. My mindset is either a product of Contrave or just loving the fact I have done so well with it. I also dip and have found that I can't handle dipping for any length of time and that's ok with me. I also have found that I am getting cold easier and hope that this is an effect of having 16lbs of less insulation. I am eating approximately 5 times per day and they are very small meals. I may be the exception to the rule but felt I needed to post here to give hope to others. My alcohol intake has been zero out of fear of producing a harsh side effect.
