Contrave: Dose Time/stomach Ache
UpdatedI've been taking contrave for 3 weeks now and certainly have a decreased appetite. I'm having issues with constipation and a stomach ache in the middle of the night tho. What time is the second dose recommended? Perhaps evening rather than close to bedtime? I also get very tired after lunch and am wondering if changing my diet would help? Any suggestions? Finally, I used to have a few glasses of wine on the weekends and have a cigarette or two (yes I'm one of those smokers). However, I've lost both a taste for wine and definitely smoking since the first week. That can only be a good thing. Please share your thoughts.

The listed FDA directions only say it should be taken in the evening, so I think adjusting it should be fine, unless your doctor has told you not to do so.
As to losing the desire to smoke, that makes sense, because one of the ingredients in Contrave, Bupropion, is also used to aid with quitting smoking. By itself, it is most commonly available under the names Zyban and Wellbutrin.
The other issues you've mentioned can be normal side effects of this medication, according to the FDA.
Can anyone else that's taken this medication chime in?
The side effects I have experienced so far are insomnia coupled with extreme tiredness. Nausea went away after the first few days. I'm at the end of week two and now experiencing constipation. This is all normal according to the pharmacy printout.
You have lost your cravings for wine and smokes because smoking cessation is one of the main uses for the ingredient Wellbutrin. Naltrexone is typically given to drug addicts to prevent opiates from having any effect. Not sure how that combo works for us, but so far I have been able to control all my urges to binge eat.
Hi guys, I'm new to Contrave. Purely by accident I took my daily dose (on the 5th week) of 4 all at once instead of 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. Should I worry?
