Constipation Relief
UpdatedI am extremely constipated, what is the fastest way to get my bowel moving?

For the past few weeks, I have been struggling to pass stool and gas. I visited a doctor and he suggested that I take Cremalax and Cyra tablets. However, after consuming these tablets, I feel I was better off before. Prior to this, despite the struggle, the stool used to pass easily, but now it is in little quantity and accompanied by some stomach pain.
Given this situation, should I continue consuming my regular amount of food? Will this lead to an increase in stool formation and fill up my intestines, potentially causing severe problems? I hadn't had this issue until I turned 30, but now at 35, the problem has been recurring regularly. Is this a lifelong condition?
Could this be due to the medicines I am taking? In addition to the aforementioned ones, I'm also taking medicine for depression, kidney stones, and cholesterol. I would appreciate any advice or guidance in this regard.
Hi, my name is Raja and I'm age 36. Lately I've been experiencing constipation with pain and sometimes blood. This has been happening for the last 2 months. Please let me know what medicine you suggest for this? Thank you.
My mother is 73yrs old. She is having constipation and slight stomach pain. Please suggest a medicine for treatment.
Have had Severe Chronic constipation since 3 years old. My parents had to give me enemas. I remember straining a lot when I was about 8 or 9, but I never thought much about it because too busy playing with friends. It might have been because I was always given milk to drink with meals, and milk can be constipating. Same in my teens, didn't pay attention too much. Not sure about my twenties, thirties and forties..busy dating, working, going to beach, bars, volunteering, skating, hanging out with friends, going on speedboats. Now, in my early 50's, I think about it all the time. It has gotten so much worse, I am always miserable and have almost no social life, I am two years overdue for my third colonoscopy and I'm so scared of the "C" word. I know there is something wrong. I can't have a "normal" bowel movement anymore. I started on opioids at age 49 due to severe back pain. I was taking Movantik and Senna to help with OIC. andI was taking the lowest possible dose, as prescribed. PRN. About 8 months ago, I got so tired of Opioid induced constipation, I went off Vicodin cold Turkey. Even Naproxen 500. Things did not get better, because I also take other constipating medications such as Antidepressants. The constipation has gotten worse. I had a bowel exam by a mean colon and Rectal surgeon four months ago, I could barely understand his thick accent, and he said I had large internal hemorrhoids, and I do not want the pain of rubber band litigation. I live in housing where there are mandatory groups and very strict and I can't miss groups due being in pain..so surgery is out of question. I have not had BM in 8 days, the longest I have ever gone and I am starting to panic. I have tried everything. More fiber, water, probiotic yogurt, ground flaxseeds, grapes, raisins, Benefiber, Citrucel, Brown Rice, Oatmeal, I did a suppository this morning (fleet) and nothing.Just a tiny thin stool. I am so uncomfortable. I am able to pass gas, do not have any abdominal pain, severe cramping or fever, vomiting, so I doubt an emergency room will help me. I don't know what to do. Help!
Re: Raja (# 3)
I don't know if anyone replied, as I see this post was back in April. But if the blood is in your stool, please see your doctor right away. If there is some blood on the toilet paper, or some in the bowl, then it is most likely hemorrhoids. Either way, I would get evaluated via a bowel exam or Colonoscopy to rule anything out. I believe you should have one every 10 years.
Re: Rishi G (# 4)
There are many medications out there. She may need to see a Gastroenterologist to rule anything out, especially with pain. She may not be getting enough fiber in her diet or drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day. It's best she schedule a bowel exam or Colonoscopy to rule anything out. At that time, they most likely will put her on a fiber supplement or medication.

I guess this thread is no longer active. Not sure where everyone is.
How come GI docs never tell you to add ground flaxseed to your morning coffee to regulate yourself and end constipation?
