Confusion About Prednisone 20mg Dosing Instructions

My Prednisone Rx is not specific about the dosing instructions. It merely states take 3 tablets every day for allergic reaction (6 day supply). Do I take 1 tablet three times per day or do I take all 3 tablets at once. I asked the pharmacist at CVS and she claimed she had no idea how the doctor meant for me to take it and that I would need to contact the ER doctor who prescribed it. I was unable to reach the ER doctor and no one at the hospital has been able to answer the question . . . just like the pharmacist. Very confusing and frustrating that even when I'm willing to advocate for my own health concerns, I still can't get answers. Please tell me the most effective way to take this medication.

Absent other instructions from the doctor, you can take it as you would like. You could take them all at once, or split them up throughout the day.

The FDA warns that this medication can cause some side effects, such as nausea, headache, dizziness, nervousness and insomnia, this, taking all 3 at once might be too much for you and you may do better splitting them up.

However, due to the insomnia, you may find it best not to take any at night, near bedtime.
