Throat hurts when I breathe and open my mouth. I can barely brush my teeth without it hurting.

Hello, Donquez! How are you?

Has this medication been prescribed for you?

Usually, it doesn't hit the throat area long enough for it to help with a sore throat, if that's what you're asking.

It's actually used to treat cough and cold symptoms. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic couch suppressant.

It carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and constipation.
