Clostridium Butyricum As Probiotic
Updatedbacillus mesentericus TO-A JPC 1 million, clostridium butyricum TO-A 2 million, lactobacillus 50 million, Streptococcus faecalis T-110 JPC 30 million formulations are being marketed as pre-probiotics. However there is conflicting information about Streptococcus (enterococcus) faecalis being an opportunistic pathogen. There is not much scientific data about the other two species either in peer reviewed journals. Would like to have more details

I know Wiki isn't a peer reviewed journal, but it does state many facts on E. faecalis that align with what you're stating:
E. faecalis (Enterococcus faecalis) can cause endocarditis and bacteremia, urinary tract infections (UTI), meningitis, and other infections in humans. That said, it is in fact a pathogen.
Apparently Streptococcus faecalis is an old name for Enterococcus faecalis, in that this is also a pathogen.
Streptococcus species are responsible for many cases of meningitis, bacterial pneumonia, endocarditis, erysipelas and necrotizing fasciitis (the 'flesh-eating' bacterial infections). However, many streptococcal species are nonpathogenic.
Prebiotics are defined as non-digestible food ingredients that stimulate the growth and/or activity of bacteria in the digestive system in ways claimed to be beneficial to health. I however can agree with you that pathogens are not beneficial to our health. Obviously bits of pathogens here and there can help build our immune system, but nobody wants to supplement missions of pathogens in their body, as many people who do eat meat and dairy products do inevitably put plenty in their system as it is.
I think a letter to the company may be in order here to help verify the safety of this strand of bacteria and in such quantities. Lack of public resource data kind of puts us in this position.
Dear David,
Have you got any more information as to why some companies use this pathogenic streptococcus faecalis strain in probiotics formula if is so dangerous (in such huge amounts 30 M)?
