Clopidogrel - Temporary Stoppage Before Cataract Surgery
UpdatedHi. I'm 75 years old. My cardiologist prescribed Deplatt Cv (Ecosprin 75 mg, Atorvastatin 10 mg, and Clopidogrel 75 mg) and I have been taking it since May of this year. Actually, i was diagnosed with Transient Ischemia in the year 1977. Initially for about 35 years I was taking ASA 50 (acetylsalicylic acid) and then from 2005 to 2017 (April), Ecosprin AV 75 mg. Now I am taking Deplatt Cv. I would like to undergo cataract removal in November and I would like to know how many days beforehand do I have to stop taking this drug and when to start it back up after the operation? Actually, I am a little bit scared to take this Clopdogrel. I wish to know, is it safe to take? No severe side effects? Kindly advise.

That is entirely up to your surgeon, it can vary from a week, two weeks, in most cases. They are the best person to consult to be sure, and in some instances, it can be a month, or so, before you can start taking it, again.
If you take it too close to the date of your surgery, or too soon afterwards, the NIH warns that it increases the risk of your experiencing dangerous bleeding issues.
Is this the only medication you are taking regularly?
Re: Verwon (# 1)
