UpdatedI have been taking clonidine for two weeks and have shortness of breath. I run up the stairs and can barely breathe. Is this normal?

" Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately or get emergency medical treatment:
- rash
- hives
- swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
- difficulty swallowing or breathing
- hoarseness "
Yes, that's one of the side effects, also orthostatic hypotension, which means when you get up after laying down for a while you will feel dizzy, etc.. because of a drop in your blood pressure. Clonidine has other uses besides hypertension. Opiate withdrawal is one. Good luck.
