My husband was recently put on this medication for his blood pressure. Since taking it he has lost 40 pounds in a month, his skin is pale, he has to eat tons of fiber and laxatives to have a bowel movement, he is anxious, he has no appetitie, and he sleeps almost instantly after taking it. This is not near all of the side effects that he has experienced from taking this medication. When he called his physician his physician told him that he may have to reduce his dosage. Reduce his dosage? ! Get him off of this medication, it is killing him ! I have never seen my husband so weak, so thin, so pale. He says he feels like he is dying. So if you cannot go off of this medication without weening off of it, how do I go about getting him completely off of it before it kills him? Tommorrow when I am off of work I am skipping his docotor and taking him to the ER.

Jenn, how is he doing, now? Has there been any change?

While the FDA does warn that it can cause various side effects, such as increased urination, hypotension, dehydration, insomnia, and peripheral edema.

How long has he been taking it? If it hasn't been for a long period of time, he may not have to wean off of it.

What other medications is he taking? Was this the doctors first choice to treat his blood pressure?

These are some of the more uncommon side effects for Clonidine. I’m surprised he’s getting them this bad since he’s only taking 0.1 as I take .3mg to sleep and I just get mild dry mouth when I wake up. I recommend not taking it. You can quit more easily since he is taking the lowest dosage possible.

I just started clondine 0.2, I have taken 3 pills at correct times, when I take it in morning I get very light headed and my eyes blur, dry mouth, evening I have once, no problem because I go to bed. My question is .. In time will light head and dry mouth, blur eyes go away?
