Clonazepam 0.5 Mg Teva Vs Accord (Page 13)

Updated

I recently received Teva clonazepam and it worked great. Two weeks ago, I received clonazepam from Accord Pharmaceuticals and it was like a placebo pill. Has anyone taken this medicine By Accord and have you noticed a serious difference with it not helping? I've never had a generic never work before. I don't know what to do. All pharmacies in my area are now going with Accord Pharmaceuticals because it's cheaper. Help with an answer please.

Re: Kita (# 240) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you, I take the Teva .5 and still using a bit of leftover .5 Accord. Not only do I feel the Accord is more effective but it also is easier to cut for tapering or cutting back a piece to make a custom dose using a .001 gram scale, cutter, and razor blade.

I'm not sure I believe the things people say about "inventory" because manufacturers are not allowed to sell a product more than a certain amount of time after production and there are strict rules about this. That's why there are expiration dates even though you know the medication lasts way beyond that. If they stopped manufacturing their Clonazepam at the end of 2023 then they can't stock it in warehouses and gradually release it over an entire year.

Have you tried Advagen, that what I got this month. It seems to work. I am a huge believer in Accord being the best but Advagen does seem to work.

You might want to tell your Doctor the experiences you have had with the generics currently on the market and see if they authorize brand name, so you can get it at the generic price.

Re: Kita (# 240) Expand Referenced Message

Finally I was able to connect with the main customer service rep at Accord, and she explained that:

1) yes the batches were gradually approved last year because when the plant in India was shut down - they had to get permission to release the batches that were already made and they could only do it after the revisions at the manufacturing plant were approved.

2) she's emailed me a list of the pharmacies in the cities in my state that are still selling these last batches, yet unfortunately none of them are anywhere near where I live.

3) it could be a very long time before the manufacturing plant in India could be able to start producing the Accord clonazepam again. She said there are many steps that need to be taken and it could be many months with no guarantee that it would even happen this year!

Re: kathy eldridge (# 247) Expand Referenced Message

What you do when you speak to the Accord/Intas customer service rep is this: You give her your email address and tell her what State you live in and she send you a thorough list of which cities in your States and which pharmacies in the cities sells Accord clonazepam in .5, 1 mg or 2 mg pills. That's it, nothing more, nothing less. Here in CA the vast majority of pharmacies that still sell it are in Southern California. Where I live in Northern California there's very little of it and availability is not good unless one happens to live in exactly the right place where it is available.

Otherwise those of us who do not live near where it is available will have to wait who knows how many months or years for it to be available in mass production again so we will just have to adjust to a different brand.

Re: Kita (# 250) Expand Referenced Message

Instead of picking the option for customer service, there are a couple other options. I got a different department and told her that customer service was not answering and not returning calls, so I left a message for customer service to call me. And even know they didn't call back the next day when I called they picked up immediately so she must have told customer service to start answering their calls. You have to be persistent, I think it's just one person in that department.

Re: Marcus (# 251) Expand Referenced Message

Thanks. I finally managed to speak with her and like you not many pharmacies available if any at all. What she told me and that’s what I am going to try next is that my pharmacy could probably make an order, because they are shipping the medication to the warehouse, so the pharmacy must be able to place an order. The question is whether or not they are willing to do it. I know the pharmacy close to me they are not helpful, I would have to find a place willing to help me out.

Re: Kita (# 252) Expand Referenced Message

For everything I know about pharmacies is they have suppliers, so they are completely dependent on the companies that purchase and stock medications from manufacturers. It is possible that maybe a small Independent pharmacy might go out of their way to purchase something but still I think they are dependent on their suppliers. It's extremely doubtful that large pharmacies could do anything like this because they are completely dependent on their suppliers who would never care about the needs of one individual customer. But I encourage you to try and I could do the same by calling a few small Independent pharmacies.

Re: Marcus (# 253) Expand Referenced Message

Marcus, I finally managed to get some supply. Here is how it worked: my doctor one of the pharmacies that had available but it is far from me- the purpose would be for me to make a trip to go get the medication. I can not take another brand. It is imperative for me accord.
The pharmacist was kind enough to check for her which pharmacy close to me had it. I know this was only possible because it was the doctor who did this exercise. The pharmacy won’t disclose which pharmacies have it or even if they have it sometimes if the person calling is the patient. So, if your doctor are able to call a couple of pharmacies that have accord, they might be able to fill the prescription for you if you are willing to make the travel or who know they might find one somewhere close to you.

Re: Kita (# 255) Expand Referenced Message

This does make sense and I'm glad it work for you but even though my doctor could call it in to a pharmacy that has it, the pharmacy is just way too far for me to go to... There is nothing on the list that the customer service woman at accord sent me that's anywhere remotely close to where I live unfortunately.

Re: Marcus (# 256) Expand Referenced Message

Marcus, I understand, in my case I was willing to drive 2hrs to get it. In any case, one thing I noticed is that it seems that the list she sent us is non exhaustive. The reason I say this is bc the pharmacy I could fill the prescription was not in her list. That’s why it might be worth asking your doctor to call any pharmacy (even yours) and perhaps asking them to help find one that might still have tablets left and is not far from you. They should be able to do that if your doctor calls. My two cents.

Re: Kita (# 257) Expand Referenced Message

It seems too complicated, the pharmacies only know what their supplier has. Well even then they don't know until they order it and it either comes in or it doesn't, or whether it's on the suppliers list of medications they carry..

Even the smaller pharmacies can't order from drug companies, they have to order from their supplier. The doctors don't even know what brands of medications the suppliers have. The doctor who orders my Klonopin is a specialist, not my primary care physician. And there's no way I could get him to call a bunch of pharmacies and have those pharmacies find the supplier for Accord. In fact that's what I would want to find out but I don't know if I can find it out.

Re: Marcus (# 258) Expand Referenced Message

He doesn’t need to call a bunch of pharmacies, a big pharmacy like CVS chain for instance has access to the other pharmacies inventory - what they have in stock. If he calls one pharmacy, explain the situation, this pharmacy can check whether there are still pharmacies out there close to you that has this specific brand. It is not about their suppliers, it is about whether or not some pharmacies might still have Accord in stock.

You can also try CVS caremark for instance and ask them to find this brand for you. When I wanted to try Klonopin the brand to see if that would work for me instead of Accord, my pharmacist simply said she couldn’t order for me that I had to take the generic. I called my insurance, explained to them the situation and they directed me to CVS caremark. They placed an order of Klonopin the brand (it was only 10 pills though) with the doctor’s prescription obviously and I received this medication in my mailbox.
