Based on my research, Citalopram is not recommended for people with severely decreased kidney function, as it has been known to cause mild to moderate renal impairment (kidney failure) in some individuals.

That said, you may want to go ahead and discuss this with your doctor before considering the use of Citalopram. This way he or she can make a more informed decision on whether or not it is really right for you.
