Citalopram & Male Orgasm

I have been on 20mg for several weeks and it's the 'pitts' that I am having a difficult time reaching orgasm. I am able to get aroused easily, but unable to have a great orgasm like I used to . . . even when masturbating. I so much looked forward to that 'moment'!

Have you consulted your doctor, yet?

Citalopram is an SSRI antidepressant and they are well known to cause various sexual difficulties as side effects. If you are experiencing them after just a few weeks, you can either talk to your doctor about trying a different medication, or you can give it a few more weeks to see if the side effect eases up.

Side effects usually hit their peak at around 4 weeks of use, then they start to taper off.

I've been taking 10mg for almost a year and a half and have the same problem. Now I stopped them and its been 2 months. Although It got a little better my question is would i be the same again after some time?

How long did you wait till you got back to normal and how long you've been using them?

I was on the drug for about 3 months. I even tried a Viagra in hopes of having good sex, but it seemed like the two were fighting each other. I contacted a pharmacist and asked how long the drug stays in the system if discontinued and was advised 7-10 days. Within a few days I noticed a change and after a week all was good!

I stopped for about 1 month or more but still having problems I read about and they said that the effect can stay for months or years. I hope it's not permanent as I used it for more then a year.

Yes, as far as a solid one and it would not stay hard for very long, so during intercource it wasn't very pleasing. I NEVER was able to climax when masterbating, and that was what I always looked forward to.
