I got a prescription refill for citalopram hbr 40 mg. The new tabs have different markings (MX33 vs RDY 344 on the old) and are half the size of the old. Can they be the same medication/dosage? Thank you.

Yes it IS celexa but that specific form isnt working, so be careful. Search for it on the internet and you will find the reports. My husband had that pill and it didnt work. It caused hell in our home. Changing back to the other tablet today!!

And no, just because it looks different, has different markings and/or may be a different size, there is no reason to worry. Generic medications are usually made by several different companies and each tablet may be different, depending on how they want it to look, the markings they use, coloring agents and what inactive ingredients they choose to use in theirs.

And River2, I am very sorry that you and your family had such problems, when your husband's medication was switched.

However, that doesn't mean that the medication is ineffective and won't work for anyone else. Everyone is different, so it may work fine for a different person.
