Citalopram Manufacturer Change (Page 2)
UpdatedMail order changed my citalopram manufacturer from Amneal to Aurobindo. Have noticed side effect after the change. Should this be happening? Anyone els have this issue with manufacturer change?
I've found Aurobindo the best. how are you feeling?
I am sure you will see there are others that have had this same problem. Personally, I PREFER the Aurobindo brand, as other generic brands I have tried do not work for me. But I have seen others that took another generic brand, that have said when they are prescribed the Aurobindo brand, it doesn't seem to help them. I don't know if it is because we have become accustomed to the brand we were always prescribed, and notice a difference when prescribed another generic, BUT it is not just in our minds. So, my advice would be to ask your pharmacy to order the BRAND of generic you have always taking. Maybe they will order it for you, or you may have to change to a pharmacy that will.
I recently switched from TEVA to Mylan. Anybody have experience with the Mylan brand?
It seems that different people's chemistry react differently to different generics. With any SSRI there may be side effects. Sometimes those side effects lessen or disappear after a few weeks, but if not and a different generic has fewer side effects for your particular chemistry, I hope you can switch back.
really glad I found this thread, my Citalopram has changed this month from Generics UK to Aurobindo and I felt like I was back to square one! I know things fluctuate and change, but I felt so much better on my previous brand and yet after a week of aurobindo I actually feel worse than I did when I first started on citalopram! Will make sure I change back to Generics UK when my script is renewed!
The difference isn't in the medication for treating the symptoms (or rather it shouldn't be) However, I have found that the issue is with the inactive ingredients. Each manufacturer uses different inert ingredients. I have been on Dr. Reddys and now I have to switch.
Fantastic post - could u elaborate on the inert substances used ?
I was jittery for about a week after changing from Teva to Mylan. However, the Mylan is working great! Maybe even better then the Teva brand.
Which manufacturer has the medicine that works the best? My daughter was just put on the Citalopram today. The manufacturer is Amneal
There doesn't seem to be any one brand that works best for everyone. Aurobindo is the only brand that works for me, but other people find that it doesn't work for them at all and a differen tbrand does. So I guess the thing to remember is that if one brand doesn't work well, a different brand might work better and try a different brand before giving up on citalopram overall.
The Amneal to me was like taking nothing, but everybody's system is different. I have been on Amneal, Teva and now Mylan.
TEVA WERE terrible, I was anxious, crying and a real mess. Sandos weren't too bad. Bristol weren't any good either. Aurobindo are the only ones that seem to work. I do wonder what other manufacturers are any good?
ROY is right - it's all about supply chain and sometimes a specific manufacturer has a temporary shortage, or another manufacturer offers better prices to the distributors
Hi JC. If you read down through this thread, you'll find lots of responses that address your question.
Aurobindo is available through express scripts mail in pharma insurance company.
yes, I have a big problem with this. been on Citalopram for years and suddenly been given a different brand and I cannot cope on them. I am extremely tired and miserable, where as on my regular ones I cope really well and they are very effective. I am trying to find a picture of the box of my citalopram on the internet and see who the manufacturer is so I can show it to my GP.I was on ones in an orange and white long packet 20mg, if you know the brand let me know
I am absolutely convinced that Aurobindo citalopram works much much better than Amneal. Since they work better they also give you more side effects, which is why I think some prefer Amneal or other brands. We are being sold a bunch of lies when insurance companies say that generics are all just as good as brand name drugs. All generics don't even work the same.
I have found out that it is actually the Torrent manufacturer that has been working for me. I've double checked, and I was right that the Amneal manufacturer is indeed the one that doesn't do much of anything for me.
I've done more research and think the ones that work have croscarmellose sodium in them. Amneal doesn't, which makes it less able to deliver the active ingredient to your system.
Boots do Almus. So they havnt stopped being manufactured. All these change in brands is so frustrating. i hope your wife is feeling better now.
