Chronic Pain Patients Must Get Organized To Lobby For Their Rights. (Page 14)

Updated

People with chronic, intractable pain are being discriminated against and it is imperative that we join forces to fight for our civil rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Please send information on existing associations and organizations that can help or how to establish one that can help pain patients fight for their rights with petitions, letters; emails to send to these state and federal politicians that are determined use prescription drugs, doctors and pharmacies to further their political careers. Drug abuse is not the same as opiate dependent because of chronic pain management and there are over 100 million people living with pain and many of us are unable to live without medication. If the deaths from abuse seems high, the suicides from pain patients that are unable to get relief will be significantly higher. If we do not fight these governors (Colorado's Hickenlooper is a perfect example) and federal agencies that are discriminating pain patients we will be even more victimized. Obviously these politicians no little about pain and they are not aware that chronic pain patients are voters. The statistics used to support their claims regarding deaths from prescription medications are seriously skewed and lacking in additional factors that contributed to the deaths. Compromising the doctor/pharmacy and patient relations is not the government's job; as John Boehner stated government needs to stay out of healthcare and let the trained healthcare professionals make decisions regarding their patients not some politician looking for recognition.

I agree only the person who is in pain knows how bad the pain is, not the doctor not the government, so who are they to tell us we should not take any medicine for pain. Most of us are not addicts or selling drugs on the streets. I am sure that there are a few bad apples but the majority of people that use pain medicine need them to be able to live with less pain and should not be punished for the few bad apples.

I bought CDX CBD oil that u can place a few drops under the tongue or mix it with whatever u are drinking. I don’t know how much u paid for yours. This brand u can try it out for 15 days, pay for shipping $4.95. If you like it, then u keep it & be billed $89.95 each for 2 bottles, a daytime & night time bottle. I gave it to my sister for pain & to help with her cancer. She said she noticed it worked. Hope that helps.

I've been with my doctor a long time and thank goodness she isn't afraid to treat my pain. I see some states are worse than others though. I live in Pennsylvania close to the NY border and my doctors office goes back to my grandparents time. Now I live in PA and the state attorney general here wants to be governor some day and doctors here in PA are scared to death of the AG plus too many politicians jumping on "the sky is falling opioid crisis" as a means to gets votes. A good friend of mine that I have tried to get in with my medical group sees doctors here in PA and all of them he's seen treat him like a drug addict. He tells me how mad it makes him but I can't get him to go to NY. Your best bet for a new doctor is a referral from a friend.

I have to laugh because Pennsylvania passed a medical marijuana law which is a good thing but what so many people out there were pushing for was to legalize recreational use of marijuana. They really didn't car anything about medical grade extractions of the chemicals in marijuana. I'm all for the medical grade pills and stuff. A friend of mine was out west, brought back a chocolate candy with an oil extract. I tried 1/2 of a tiny square of the candy to see how if affected my pain and to be honest I don't remember how if affected my pain because it made me feel really weir which I so disliked and wanted it to be over with I wasn't paying attention to the pain. I've never tried illegal drugs with the exception of that tiny piece of marijuana laced candy. My friend said to try a small piece but I'm waiting for him to pick up the couple he gave me.

Glad to hear that you've found something that works for you! It's not often I hear a story from a chronic pain patient that makes me smile. Most States haven't made marijuana legal and I read today that the Feds are looking for a reason to ban kratom. Here in Texas I haven't found a new MD for pain management. The pain management group I'd been going to for six years closed their doors. The neurologist I'd been with 15 years prior isn't doing long term pain management due to the regulations and paperwork. He said it was difficult to treat his patients as a single practioner. Hope and prayer for everyone out there who's been adversely affected by the war against perscription opiods for pain.

My doctor refuses to write a script for medical maijuana and says he doesn't know enough about LDN and couldn't allow it anyway. He will write for morphine or percocet, or hydrocodone, etc., but no naturals. No CBD oil.

May I ask what state you live in? I am in NY, I have a medical marijuana card, and the choices offered at dispensaries are very limited. I have not found anything that helps with my pain. The products also make me very sleepy.

Thanks for all the wonderful information. I will be sure to look for products like the ones you suggested when Ohio finally gets this program up and running. I tried a full Cannabis vape, 97% Thc, and all I felt was very dizzy and not very good. I am looking for a little Thc but not 0% as I think the small amount along with CBD us what would help with pain and a small amount of relaxation like you are taking.

I am very glad and amazed that you are able to get your pain level down to a 2 or 3 let alone down to 0?? That is truly amazing and keeps me hopeful for medical marijuana. I just need the different choices, too old for full on THC!

Take care and keep healing!

Hop63 (# 266) --

I live in Illinois and they keep adding more products as they grow.
I stay with anything that is very high CBD and very low THC.
I have noticed that if I do too much CBD oil at times, I also get sleepy.
It's still a new process figuring out what works and what doesn't for me, but so far it is a lot better than any of the opiates in relieving my pain.
I just hope they don't go and make a so-called crisis out of this too!

Once they make it legal for recreational use, that is when a lot of problems will start.
As long as they can illegally collect those tax dollars on this form of medicine, there won't be a crisis.
If they could have taxed the opiates, there would never have been a so-called crisis there!
And as they say at the dispensary, take it slow to see what works and what doesn't until you find what works best for you.

Hope you do find what works best for you!

It’s funny to said that! My pain management doctor flat out told me, “ You have some pretty progressive osteoarthritis in your neck, shoulder and feet but it shouldn’t hurt as bad as you say”.

I was like, well thanks Doc, I feel better already!

Re: Sandra (# 256) Expand Referenced Message

I go on google and research everything! I haven't taken CBD oil yet', only researched it, and found it is legal in 50 states. I have found the best all-around CBD oil is Lazurus Natural and since have seen it praised on many websites! The only reason I haven't tried yet is that they give a 40% discount to disabled Veterans and terminally disabled people (with proof). Also a discount to people that income is below the poverty level! And I have to figure out what to send and where. I called them and you would think the person that answered was an old friend. So cordial! great customer service! They will give you all the help you need. I figured with his help that capsules would be best for me! Go on line and talk to them. Just be honest about everything and they will give you all the help you need. They have a great variety! Good Luck Sandra!

Replacing the politicians sounds good but, in reality, it will probably never happen. The so called “opioid crisis” has been manufactured by the ones and/or family members of the drug abusers who refuse to accept responsibility for the shape they find themselves in. Most need to blame someone for their problems. After all, they could not possibly be at fault themselves (sarcasm, in case no one picks up on it). Politicians of every stripe are pandering to the voters by making an issue where there is none.

Exactly what I've been saying to all the politicians I know and people I know that abuse opioids. Seems like such common sense except they don't want to accept common sense.

I've found NY and PA (where I live) to be restrictive regarding pain meds and getting worse. Politicians want us to magically stop having pain. Its crazy.

Re: BiggerBrat (# 276) Expand Referenced Message

My primary care suggested I start seeing another doctor. I have now been off all pain meds, except ibuprofen for almost 4 weeks (last time I filled was in Mid July). I only get 60 each script so that tells you what a drug addict I was, I am supposed to take two a day but most days of the week I would skip and only use when absolutely necessary. I got the script, same dose and the same amount for 5 years. Shows you how they know, I must be a crazy drug addict to have pills left over to last me two months, lol!

In all seriousness, I was never at a point of dependence on them, it was just nice to have them when I was in really bad shape. I miss those few days a week where I felt almost normal and could do things. Now I go to work, come home in complete pain, and collapse on my bed. Can’t clean my house very well, and do not go out at all because I am miserable with this pain. Ibuprofen doesn’t work at all anymore, now I just get sick when I take it. Took 13 Tylenol a day for a few days, it took a small fraction of the pain away, but that dosage will kill me. Heck 2400 mg of ibuprofen will eventually do the same.

Wonder what will happen to these uncaring docs when families sue them for ruining our kidneys and livers with these "safe” alternative otc meds at high doses. I guess it’s ok, as long as the opioid didn’t kill me.

Oh, and guess what, I haven’t become a street drug junkie either. Lol

They have no studies on the CBD oils? They say that the CBD oils have been used for around 2,000 years with success, but probably felt they could make more money off the opiates because of how addicting they are. I think that us new users of the "real" CBD oils are the new lab rats for testing out what works and what doesn't.

I tried the CBD oils from the health food stores and they are made from hemp. No THC at all, and they didn't work at all for me. They actually made me get sick. It also made me hesitant on trying the other "real" CBD oils, but now I'm glad I did.

The "real" CBD oils from the Medical Marijuana dispensaries have very little THC and high levels of CBD, and they work great for me on relieving my pain. Far better than what the opiates were doing.

My doctor will also prescribe the opiates, but I declined to accept anymore of that garbage. The opiates worked great back in 2005 and they ruined them around 2014 when they decided to add in new anti-abuse fillers for the street junkies, but that ended up making everyone get sick and very little pain relief. Those fillers are what most likely caused my gallbladder to fail and I had to have that removed in 2015.

I hope they don't turn around and decide to make a crisis out of the Medical Marijuana too! But since they do collect tax revenue from the sales of the Medical Marijuana products, which should be illegal to do since it is a form of medicine, there won't be a crisis there. Just like the alcohol and tobacco! They always say how dangerous the alcohol and tobacco products really are, but they overlook that as long as they keep receiving that tax revenue.
That tax revenue that helps keep their MONEY ADDICTIONS well fed!

I know some people that are using the CBD from the health food stores who have had success with them. They also quit using the opiates for pain!

Hope you have success in using the CBD oils too! It is a trial and error process for everyone to see what works best for them. And like they say, take it slow until you do find what works best for you.

Re: Tom (# 279) Expand Referenced Message

CBD oils that are considered legal medical marijuana in NY state are as useless as anything you could buy in a health food store. I don’t know how chronic pain patients are able to trade in previous prescription meds for the limited choices available to me at a high price. There is no solution in sight. I haven’t felt this bad in years.
