Chronic Pain Patients Must Get Organized To Lobby For Their Rights. (Page 10)

Updated

People with chronic, intractable pain are being discriminated against and it is imperative that we join forces to fight for our civil rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Please send information on existing associations and organizations that can help or how to establish one that can help pain patients fight for their rights with petitions, letters; emails to send to these state and federal politicians that are determined use prescription drugs, doctors and pharmacies to further their political careers. Drug abuse is not the same as opiate dependent because of chronic pain management and there are over 100 million people living with pain and many of us are unable to live without medication. If the deaths from abuse seems high, the suicides from pain patients that are unable to get relief will be significantly higher. If we do not fight these governors (Colorado's Hickenlooper is a perfect example) and federal agencies that are discriminating pain patients we will be even more victimized. Obviously these politicians no little about pain and they are not aware that chronic pain patients are voters. The statistics used to support their claims regarding deaths from prescription medications are seriously skewed and lacking in additional factors that contributed to the deaths. Compromising the doctor/pharmacy and patient relations is not the government's job; as John Boehner stated government needs to stay out of healthcare and let the trained healthcare professionals make decisions regarding their patients not some politician looking for recognition.

Re: Sandi (# 179) Expand Referenced Message

I don’t know if it was my doctor or pharmacist but I also paid $25 copay for Narcan a few months ago. I didn’t question it because no one tried to reduce any of my prescription pain meds. I also take klonopin. I resented the idea that they expected me to OD after taking the same prescription meds at same amount for over 10 years. I could have used that $25 dollars for something else. I have never had a problem with an overdose in the past. Maybe it’s now a requirement, the schools are even running training on Narcan for teachers and parents.

The wealthiest of wealthy who live for power decide what goes on in the World. Feeling they're superior to the majority they don't care about us. This war on opiods for people in short and chronic pain is being addressed so they can get the support of citizens in multiple Countries. This is why legal pharmaceuticals have to be promoted as causing the accidental ODs and other deadly problems. People who know nothing more about pain other than a scraped knee, a one time broken arm, a toothache, etc are buying what the government and most of the media is selling. Our lives are insignificant to those who are really in power. Obamacare was a big success for those who want to see a population decrease and to control all aspects of our lives. Advocates supporting proper treatment for Chronic Pain patients are a thorn in their sides as are advocates for the governing based on the original US Constitution and Bill Of Rights.

They're saying that Kratom is addictive also. For that they can find no shred of evidence. The European Union was formed against the wishes of the citizens of European Countries for years. Trade became the weapon of the Power people to force the Union. The formation of a Asian Union and the North American Union will give the control of more people to fewer people. Download and read Agenda 21 if you want to learn more about what is happening to us. Someone mentioned control over the size of soda's sold and purchased as an example of control. Soda straws are soon to be outlawed we're told. Yet studies have shown they're insignificant as waste, but funding for the law will be the real waste. We're being taxed to fund additional control over our lives. We can still fight for our Rights. Remember this isn't the first battle with despots. The US won it's Sovereignty against a group much larger than itself. Truth, personal education, faith and perseverance is what we must utilize.

Hello, this pharmacist was just trying to push narcan on you. There is no requirement for you to have this regardless what you take. The pharmacist was right in that the combo of meds can be dangerous, But as you stated, you have been taking them for many years. I would have just said thanks but not thanks, But I also understand your position...

madashell (# 182) --

I am sorry they are taking donations to finish the movie I am not positive but I think part of the movie is on youtube. Not the complete movie because they are still in production. I do not think National Pain Report would allow a scam so I did donate so the movie could be completed.

Re: Hop63 (# 181) Expand Referenced Message

My PCP required I agree to a script because I was getting perscriptions for narcotics. I laughed when I left the office. I'd been on higher dosages in the past. The doctor at pain management was already reducing my meds. Now that he's cut all narcotic meds off I wonder if they want to recycle. Needless to say I am angry. Blood pressure spikes, sleepless nights, back to pain that has taken away my ability to walk, turn my head and bend. This push to prescribe narcon to chronic pain patients is further proof that the Powers that be have an ulterior motive that doesn't include helping those in medical need.

Re: BiggerBrat (# 167) Expand Referenced Message

It's bad BiggerBrat. I sure hope and pray that you and the rest of the pain sufferers keep the faith that as a group we can expose the truth. This war against opiods is a scam. I'm not saying that there isn't an addiction problem. Every generation has dealt with it. Some of us can remember the "Just Say No" and the "This Is Your Brain On Drugs" frying eggs. Back then the illegal drugs coming from across our borders were primarily blamed. Taxes were raised to further finance the war on drugs. A few years ago undocumented reports were written by a few CDC personnel that the CDC has now admitted contained exaggerations and faulty information. However the reports were and are utilized to create this bogus war on perscription opiods. Too much of the media sources are owned by the same people. If they are able to tell the real truth to the public it may possibly be through paid ads and letters to the editor. Letter's to editor's and calls to talk radio are a couple of ways that those who are home bound can educate the public. Calls, letters and email needs to go out to our City Councils, Mayor's, State Legislators, the Lt Governors, Governors, Attorney Generals, Congress, the Vice President, President and Attorney General. As well as various individuals of the DEA, CDC and FDA. That sounds like a lot of work. However, each letter and email can be reproduced and sent. A couple of varied versions for elected, those on the ballot this year and those appointed or non elected in agencies. Those of us who are still able to get around or have supportive friends and family can make an impact by visiting our State Capitol, our White House and the offices of elected officials. Even when they aren't in they have Aids and sign in books with a place for the reason of our visit. We must be organized and do what we can if we have any hope of saving our and other's. Medication for long term pain aka chronic pain is not what is causing the addiction problem. Research proves this to be true. What do you think of a Nationwide rally held the same day to expose the truth and share facts prior to the Nov 2018 election. I realize it's late and wouldn't be as potent as it could be. If you're interested we'll find a way to get an initial page set up. Voter's make a difference and we're millions of motivated voters with a legitimate cause.

I agree with you. I wish everyone could participate in a rally. Gotta tell you, I don't travel well and its getting worse. Every time I see the doctor it seems like its something new. Currently fighting an 80% blockage in my femoral artery of my right leg that is adding to all my other pains and is extremely exhausting. I do tell people about the opioid scam every chance I get including letters to the editor and representatives at the state and federal level. Keep me informed and keep up the good work.

Re: HOUSE (# 185) Expand Referenced Message

I don’t know if you are right but I agree it’s possible. I think my doctor wrote the script for Narcon but didn’t have a discussion with me about it. When I picked up my medications the pharmacist told me the total which was $25 more than I expected. He said the doctor added an additional prescription. I paid and left. When I got home I saw what it was and I wasn’t surprised. I think a discussion about when this is necessary and how to use it would have been appropriate. I am more likely going to need it to save one of my high school students than myself. I have never taken more of my medication than prescribed and my dosage has been the same for over 10 years without any “scary situations”. I figured Big Pharma wanted to get some extra bucks from me.

Re: Hop63 (# 191) Expand Referenced Message

Narcan. My spelling mistake. Also $25 is the full price for the nasal spray so insurance wasn’t involved and I should have refused to pay for the item. Another mistake on my part. It has gotten so bad that I am just thankful to get my prescription pain meds that I just pay and run.

Re: Hop63 (# 192) Expand Referenced Message

Hi. See my pharmacist he put it on my insurance for $25, I'm not happy about it at all. I think it's just insane what they're putting us through. He told me pharmacists can do this without even talking to a doctor. I think that's crazy. So I called my doctors and they said don't worry about it you're good here there's no problems it was just nine times out of 10 a really nosey pharmacist. LOL but what bothers me if I would ever have to go to the hospital or whatever and they run that report on me as they do they will see that I have Narcan and I think that's nuts. What will they think of me?

Thank you for the heads up on that website. I too, will be donating. Perhaps we all can learn something from the website-it's easy to read, well written, direct and to the point. Although heartbreaking to look at the young boy's eyes. Tell me he is an actor!

Re: Sandi (# 193) Expand Referenced Message

I think that certain pharmacists employed by big chains (CVS, WALGREENS) have the “power” to dispense medication or not at their discretion according to their “moral compass”. Someone sent me a link to an article about this. I will post it if I saved it. I agree with you that I worry about how I am “judged” now that all our medical information is available by medical facilities and practitioners since it is online. We are judged the same as the drug addicts that buy street drugs. That’s unfair and hurtful since we are legitimate chronic pain patients. The situation continues to get worse depending on location but ultimately when the joint agencies publish new guidelines we will be all in the same group. I am almost made to feel ashamed when I go to one of the big chain pharmacies to pick up my prescriptions. I went to a small family-owned pharmacy for almost 30 years but they closed their doors without warning a few months ago. Good luck to you.

Same here. My P. M. doc gave me Narcan. Script with ins. was about $47.00. Told them that after 27 years of taking opioids that I would end up using to save a stranger's life, other than me ever needing it.

Re: Sandi (# 179) Expand Referenced Message

I wouldn’t take the Narcan & would never sign anything stating I would. Unless my doctor spoke to me about this first. A pharmacist has no right to force you to take anything that was not prescribed to you by your doctor. Ask for your perscription back and go to another pharmacy. And when you get home go on the internet & find the association of pharmasist $ report them. It should be illegal that a pharmacist can add something different than what your perscription warrants.

Everybody who is told they have to take Narcan by anyone other than your doctor should be reported. It sounds like Narcan Manufacturers are pushing this on all pharmacies. It seems to be totally illegal! Good Luck to you all.

Re: Mare (# 198) Expand Referenced Message

Good morning. I wanted to thank everyone for their comments about the situation I went through with that silly Narcan. This is just ridiculous. I'm going to call the corporate office and really light a fire under their asses. I'm just so sick of this crap and being tagged or looked at as a drug addict. I'll be 61 years old and I'm tired of this. That pharmacist made me feel like if I didn't take the Narcan he was going to tell like the Narcan police on me. LOL that was a joke. But he did make me feel very uncomfortable and that's why I purchased it. But I'm not done with him or that Pharmacy. Thank you so much for commenting and having my back. Have an awesome day. :) I will definitely keep you posted. Enough is enough.

Re: Sandi (# 199) Expand Referenced Message

I hope you can get through the asses who started this crap about Narcan. I’ve been on disability since 2003. I used to get an opioid & Soma for my pain. But about 2 years ago, my dr. said he could no longer prescribe them both anymore because the pressure he was getting from the higher ups. So we decided to have a pain pump implanted where he can put the necessary pain meds in. I agreed & was still able to get a script for my Soma. Most of the problems comes from the insurance companies who don’t want to pay their part. What we paid for through our paychecks. What’s worse is I have to deal with Workers Comp too since I reinjured by back while working. You think the insurance companies are bad. I had to take Workers Comp to court over denied prescriptions.

Don’t be afraid to stand up to these bully companies. We paid their salaries through our taxes & deductions. Good luck.
