Chronic Pain And A Dr I Hope Exists That Can Help Me

I am in the Charlotte NC area. I have had Chronic Pain since 1992. My savior, Dr Senter retired. I have now gone to hell!! I have fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, a min of 8 ruptured discs in the cervical and lumbar regions. I also have chronic debilitating Migraines. The Dr's I have now each seem to have their "favorite" procedure an each of them only want to do that one thing because they are convinced it works. It doesn't seem to matter that it isn't helping me, they just keep wanting to try that "one more time" !! With my pre-retired Dr my pain level actually saw a 2 at times and almost always stayed under a 7. My pain level now is staying at 8,9, & 10!! I have Nooo life like this!! I can't do anything except HURT!! I need to find someone within a couple of hundred miles of me that is willing to find things that will help ME!! And be willing to prescribe what is needed to get me back into some kind of LIFE!! I am 52 and I'm existing like a 95 yr old. This isn't right!! Please someone help me get a little of my life back!!

What type of doctors are you seeing?

Under the new laws, general practitioners and surgeons are now greatly restricted in what they can prescribe to treat pain and how long they can prescribe anything.

If you require long-term treatment for chronic pain, then you'll have to see a pain management specialist for treatment.

You also might be creating some problems for yourself, if you're immediately asking for certain medications, when you see a new doctor. Most of them will see that as drug seeking behavior and thus, they'll keep insisting that you try other stuff.

It's also important to give any other treatment options a fair chance, most can't truly be evaluated after just one or two tries.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
