Child Asthama, Allergic And Adenoids
UpdatedMy 9 year old son was given Mox clav DS in last week Feb'11 after he had chest infection , wheezing, Peak Lube reading 190, ( He is asthamatic, for which Foracort 200 , 1 puff morning and evening is given since 5 years now).He is alergic and also had adenoid problem so mouth breather. He normally has peak lube reading of 250 when otherwise healthy. Now since yesterday , he again feels wheezing, chest congestion, peak 190, . Doctor prescribed Mox clav again same way. My question is : Is it safe to have this antibiotic agin in just 2 months. And if someone could suggest some remedies for longterm solution of the asthamatic problem, it would really help us.

Hi
my suggestion is not to give foracort 200 for so long as it has stayriods. giving antibiotic is ok as per the condition of the child but long and regular use of stayriods is not good for regular use give him asthaline inhaler or nebulisation. now show him to doctor and tapper off his foracort. most importantly keep him on natural diet like lemon, apple , ginger lot of liquids, steaming etc. Avoid smoke ,cold, dust, ice cream etc. even then he gets attacks put him on inhalsation of astheline and antibiotics.
most important give him steaming every night before sleeping hope every thing goes well .
Thanks Ms. Madhu Dhar. The Doc. has stopped foracort inhaler for my child as he feels there was an uneventful period for a long time. So far so good. Should stay that way. Now my concern his about his mouth breathing. I heard somewhere that mouthbreathers do not get sufficient oxygen supply and that makes them less capable due to insufficient supply of O2 to brain. Is that so ?? What to do. Adenoids operation ?? Any side effects to that ? or should we try some exercises if there are any ? Second concern is that he is developing a little protruding teeth / mouth possibly due to this consistent mouth breathing. Should we go to dentist to fix the shape of teeth with wire.? I must mention that he has a either of nostril open rather than block most of the time. So not that much blockage and we mostly tell him to make it a habit to breathe through nose rather than mouth. He does oblige most of the time but many times he feels his nose is rather blocked so then we don't pressure him.
Thanks in advance for any replies. I need detailed ones.
I am very happy that doc has stopped Foracort . but hoz he is responding to asthema . Kindly look for allergy factor in his life.
for adinoids use nasel spray mornig evening for at least 2 months. His adinoids will settle down. donot go for any operation. they will settle down with time. take care.
Thanks for the reply. But which nasal spray should be given. Is that not a steroid. ? Or will it be having any side effects.? Pl. elaborate.
You feel if nasal spray is given once morning and evenings , he will be able to breathe normally through nose after 2 months or so. ? That will be really good.
Pl. reply.
