Can you take Zyrtec-D with Cheratussin AC syrup? I'm having coughing, allergies and congestion.

I took ceterzine ( Zyrtec d) and it wasn't really helping so I took a little teaspoon of charatussin ac syrup will I be ok?

They both treat the same conditions, so it is usually best to stick with one, or the other, rather than doubling up, unless your doctor has instructed otherwise.

Taking both could result in some unforeseen issues, since the Zrytec D can act as a stimulant, due to the Pseudoephedrine in it, and the Cheratussin can act as a depressant due to the Codeine in it, according to the NIH. The Cheratussin also carries the risk of being habit forming.
