Dude Z pack is an antibiotic. Duh.
I was just prescribed this stuff, Z pack cheratussin AC 10 ml, with no antibiotic?? Upper respiratory , chills so bad they hurt, and in the world of " get them in and get them out " ASAP. I wonder why these drug dealers did not prescribe an antibiotic????I'm still standing here with my thumb up my ass!!! " Clinical Associates "in Joliet Illinois is a pseudo drug dependency clinic which is far from it. Oxycodone anyone? Suboxone for a mild case of a sore back?? They are no more than an inept, incompetent, free wheeling drug Dealers!!!!! Don't be fooled!!!!!!!!
There are a few different manufacturers of Cheratussin. The product that we order is clear and colorless and I frequently hear complaints that it isn't beneficial towards cough. Another complaint is that most insurance formularies do not include it therefore the patient is forced to pay the out of pocket cost which unfortunately turns out to be a tragic waste.
Cheratussin AC - Syrup contains Codeine (10 mg) + Guaifenesin (100 mg) per 5 mL.
As far as I'm concerned, if your label is similar to the one in the link below, then it is supposed to be a very light reddish pink color:
http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?id=25568
NOTE: You may have to scroll down the page to see the label. As you can see, they put "red #40" in the inactive ingredient list.
Whether or not the color matches is one thing, but if it doesn't work for you then you need to consider contacting your doctor or pharmacy about stronger forms of this medication. It sounds to me like you might need something double that strength to fight your symptoms.
As you fight off this cold or flu you should also try to keep your immune system strong by eating lots of Vitamin C rich fruits and veggies. Kiwi's, mangoes, and oranges specifically have a lot of cold and flu fighting properties, but literally any addition of fruit will help your body have more energy to fight off whatever it is, without compromising your digestive system. When you eat other cooked foods or starches, your digestive system is compromised and your body's energy level decreases as it try's to digest the food; leaving it with less energy to help you heal. I hope that makes sense, because it can be the difference of allowing your body to recover a lot sooner.
