Chantix Is Working For Me
(Newest replies first)

I have smoked 10-20 cigarettes a day for over 30 years and never believed I could quit. When I started taking Chantix just over three weeks ago, I must confess I was skeptical. But it worked!! It's been 19 days since my last cigarette and the withdrawal has been much easier than I'd ever anticipated. It did take me 10 days of being on Chantix before it really began working for me, so don't give up if you don't quit on that 7th day. I cannot even begin to express how very thankful I am for this product. One thing that might help those who want to quit but aren't ready yet: try not smoking in your car, your house, etc. I did than many years ago and it has probably made it a little easier for me. I literally thank God for Chantix!

I am on day 14. I have had one cig a day since Saturday. I'm hoping the day will come when I no longer have the thought or urges to smoke. I won't give up because one is better than a whole pack. I hope everyone that tries succeeds! Happy Holidays!
I've been on Chantix for a month. I've gone a few days without but once I have one, its full on. I started on 2 a day and now I'm up all night. Its awful! I was on on Wellbutrin and didn't smoke for a year. Once I went on Zoloft, I feel much better, but started smoking within days. I taste no difference unless I haven't smoked in days. I'm disheartened. What to do?
I tried Chantix a year ago last June (2013) I took it for the first three weeks and then had to stop as it was nauseating me. I had the white pills then moved onto the blue ones for a week before I stopped altogether. Apparently it worked fine in just that short time because here it is a year later (June 2014) and I still don't smoke. I get cravings and just focus on something else and it works out fine. By the way, I had smoked for 43 years prior to trying Chantix. I figure I had to have been ready as I was smoking half a pack daily and the darned things tasted like yuck. It's awfully nice not to have deal with that anymore. Good luck to everyone who's trying to quit
I am on day 9 of Chantix and went to smoke my last smoke this morning I put it out and didnt want to smoke it. I was very surprised with my self! YAY! They started to taste like an ash tray after 7 days. Maybe that is why they say dont smoke after the 7 days. Anybody know why that is?? By the way I am on Seroquel and Klonopin and I have had no side effects at all. I tried quitting before chantix got 65 days under my belt and slipped. I was using the patch and tons of gum. It worked but I was miserable. I had all of the side effects that chantix says you will have. LOL It is the nicotine that you need to get out of your body...Using the patches and the gum did not work...I hope now that I am smoke free the side effects dont start showing up again. Thanks for all of the positive reports...Looking forward to not smoking ever again.
I started smoking 25 years ago, and have been smoking about a pack to pack and a half a day since then. I am now 28 days smoke-free, and loving it! My husband and brother in law still smoke in the house, in front of me, and sometimes it gets to me! When I find it gets close to unbearable, I go ahead and take a frag of my husbands cigarette. The taste is HORRIBLE and makes me wonder what I ever decided I liked about it in the first place!! LOL Dont beat yourself up! If you slip, ok! Just keep taking the pills!! The urges will subside as you go on, you just cant give up! And set a reward for yourself for milestones in time (ex 1 month smokefree, 3 months, 6 months etc) I decided that I am putting back the money I was spending on cigarettes every day for a trip to Las Vegas for my 1 year. I counted it today and have almost 159 dollars! Good luck dear! You can do this!!rmjd
Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am on day 4 of the Chantix....Thursday is my quit date. I have definitely been feeling a difference already, and I am SO hopeful this will finally help me to quit. I've smoked about the same amount and time as you have....if you can do it, so can I!
