Change From Adderall Ir (80mg) To Adderall Xr (20mg) Daily?

My doctor recently switched me from adderall IR (20 mg/4x day) to adderall xr 20 mg/once a day. So far I am feeling ok with the xr, however, I feel like I need a little bit higher dosage. I can tell that I'm not getting the same effects from the XR because the dosage is so much smaller. Shouldn't I be taking 80 mg/day of XR (same mg dosage as I was for IR)??? Are the two versions that much different that you need a lower dosage when on the XR?

I was on adderall IR for years 60mg a day and wanted to go up but Dr wanted me to try 60 mg XR first. It is making me sluggish and tired. Not the same energy. What can I do ? Wait it out. Its been 5 days or ask to go back to IR?

I am not a doctor, so I can't speak for your doctor's decisions...

But I am wondering if there were any other changes involved, such as other medications, or new health conditions that might have resulted in the sudden drop?

Yes, this dosage is nowhere near equivalent. You should, typically, be put on an equivalent dose of the XR.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and insomnia.

What reason did your doctor give for the change?
