Cefuroxime Axetil And Itching

I took this for 10 days for a sinus infection, during taking this I developed a cough, couldn't talk, didn't think much about it just thought it was from being sick..i also developed a rash..been off this medicine for two weeks and still have a very itchy rash.....on my back..stomach area..ect..how long does a rash from this mess last?

Shirley, an itchy rash could be the sign of an allergic reaction, so you should have it checked out by your doctor. You may need treatment for it and it could mean that you cannot take this medication, again, in the future.

The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

Has there been any change yet?

My daughter in law is a nurse. She asked a dr about it who said it has been known to cause a rash that lasts over 2 weeks in 1 PERCENT of people who take it..apparently im the one percent..lol. The itch has slowed down a bit..but not gone.
