With the cap still on the tooth, there is a chance that it isn't able to properly drain to allow the infection to fully clear up. A dental abscess forms a pocket down in the roots, similar to that formed by a cyst, and it has to drain, or be drained, to clear out the bacteria that has caused the infection.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of Cefdinir as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.
You may need another round of antibiotics, once the cap is removed, and the root canal is done.
What wasn't a root canal done, before the cap was placed?
