Caused Spike In Blood Pressure

I have Eosinaphilic Gastroenteritis and started slow on Medrol due to past experience with high dose Prednisone causing high blood pressure. After taking 4mg Medrol my BP was 149/99 within 12 hours. I am 33 very fit and work out regularly, I have no other health issues. Why would steroids cause such a drastic spike in BP? There aren't a lot of treatment options for my condition so I'm trying to figure out why this is happening.

It's just due to the nature of how they work in the body, all steroids/hormones can cause blood pressure elevation. I've actually found that I had the least amount of issues with Prednisone, myself.

However, 149/99 isn't really a drastic spike, that's only about mid-range.

Have you consulted your doctor? You may need to take something to lower your blood pressure, while being treating with the Medrol.
