Catching Covid While On Methadone

Is catching covid harder or easier for people if that person is on Methadone for pain management?

It can vary from person to person, in some cases, opioid use suppresses the immune system, making it easier for someone to catch COVID-19, but according to studies, Methadone is not thought to cause this in most people that take it.

Everyone is different, so it could also vary from person to person. Socioeconomic factors, such as poverty, and improper hygiene which occur in many opiate addicts can also contribute to the likelihood of COVID-19 infection.

It is, however, always best to follow your doctor's instructions, and heed essential COVID-19 protocols, such as wearing a mask when required, cleaning regularly, and washing your hands regularly.

Thanx for reply yes had all vaccinations just a bit concerned as I have asthma did have hcv till I had treatment but my immune system hasn't been great since treatment .thanks again take care .
