Cannot Find A Pharmacy To Fill Oxycodone 30mg Near Detroit, Mi...help Please? (Page 3) (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy husband received a script of Oxycodone 30 mg a few weeks ago from his surgeon and I cannot find a pharmacy to get them filled at. They mostly say they do not carry them or they are on back order. I have called everywhere. Any suggestions? Anyone know a pharmacy that carries it? Thanks in advance.
I have figured a way around finding 30mg oxycodone ir tabs. This problem arose the first time I got a script for the 30mg tabs. He's a pain mgmt Dr and writes probably 100 scripts a day and 99% of pharmacies won't fill his. But he has a deal with Walgreen's and they fill all his scripts. I'm on Fentanyl 75mcg/h and oxy 15mg 2 tabs 3 times a day thereby getting around the 30mg problem. Do I'm on 30mg 3x a day, plus my fentanyl. Walmart usually has 10 and 20mg tabs only (here in Hawai'i). The Walgreen's carries 10, 15 and 20mg tabs. CVS won't fill any oxy scripts over here. Sometimes if u go to a pharmacy either near a hospital or drs office bldg , you'll have better luck finding what you need. But do NOT expect to find the 30s anywhere. Do the 2 15mg way. Much easier. Good luck. Aloha
All Walgreen stores in my area carries them. (Oakland county, MI).
If you're not near Walgreens, check which hospitals have a pharmacy open to public. Hospitals have to carry most pain meds. That's what I do when my Walgreens is out
I tried 3 the Walgreens in Michigan that's a shame won't nobody fill these for me.
I have been to every Walgreens on the east side, darn near, as well as St John's hospital and can't get my script filled for my 30 milligram Oxycodone. And the one place that did have some wanted to give me only 90 where as I get prescribed 120?!?! Where can I fill my prescription at?
You're not a doctor nor do you have the education it takes to be one. Furthermore you should educate yourself. Most of us coming to the pharmacy to fill a script are not filling to sell. If you were a doctor, you would know that is why they do random drug panels to make sure we are taking our meds. Maybe if more of you narrow minded pharmacists had experienced it personally, you would have more compassion.

Where which Walgreens filled your prescription it seems most chain pharmacies won't fill this med?
Re: refusalxx (# 51)
Did you find a place ? I know a place but it's in the Lansing area. I have had a hard time finding them many times.
Dalcoma Pharmacy off M59 and Canal Road, I believe it's Sterling Heights but it could be Shelby Township and they also deliver for free. They specialize in pain meds however they do sell all of my prescription needs. Awesome Pharmacy, the best.
If Walgreens is out, you need to find a hospital that has an outpatient pharmacy. They always carry pain medicine. They have to have it on hand for patients.
Unfortunately, most pharmacies will not tell you on the phone.
Re: PharmD DOCTOR of pharmacy (# 37)
HAHAHA - You clearly have a superiority complex. When you say "pharmacist" please be specific about which person you are referring to at the counter as you should know there are different positions inside of the pharmacy, techs, pharm assist etc. It's very rare that a new pharmacist, new tech etc will be consulted by a doctor unless that doctor is an *****. You must feel special but a good doctor would have the education and knowledge to know how to treat his/her patients without consulting a pharmacy...does he not have colleagues at his own level he can consult? My doctor is one of the top doctors in my township and highly despises the way the pharmacies are making calls to him trying to argue with him until he eventually puts them in their place and they shut the f*** up as you should do. If you want to be a doctor then go back to school and study to be a doctor and quit acting like one because you work in the healthcare field. That's like saying "I am a legal secretary but I have just as much authority to represent my clients in court as my boss, the REAL attorney". You people make me sick.

Try a hospital pharmacy that's were I found them also Sam's club
I read the DEA mandates and controls how many pills are manufactured. I'm looking for the article and will post when I find. No, I did read that and haven't lost my mind-yet. I'm wondering if the drug manufacturer can be contacted and asked what pharmacy will dispense their product to the public. just a thought.
I was on those for a couple of years. I had trouble until I tried CVS. They filled all of them on time. (In Georgia).
Here's the problem in MI. most pharmacy's are being raided because of improper record keeping and selling under the table or both and so the DEA has put a slight hold on a lot of independently owned pharmacy's for that reason . now if use the same one all the time and its not a large chain change to a large chain and have them call to very the what and the why and after that there shouldn't be anymore problems especially if you go there every month! And don't come there early!!! I go to a certain chain every 27-30 days so there's never an issue! Hope this helps!
So because pharmacists are not involved in medical trials, they do not know more about the medications than doctors? hmmm interesting. I have medical doctors calling me all the time asking for input on which medication to prescribe. Pharmacists do not just work in the retail setting (i.e. CVS, Rite Aid) filling junk such as oxycodone and Norcos for the pleasure of people to get them in order to sell. Pharmacists work in many setting, such as the ICU of hospitals where they are given full authority to dose antibiotic IV's and make medical decisions, trust me, I would know, I used to work in one. So do not dare say pharmacists are not doctors, because we are. In terms of the 20% rule, you are right. Most pharmacies will not just fill your pain prescription if you do not have maintenance medications with it. The Board of Pharmacy and DEA closely monitor pharmacies. Like I said, most (not all) people coming in to the pharmacy with their oxy's and any other pain pill do not need them. You can call it judging or whatever you want but I have been in this field long enough to determine who needs them and who does not.
I walked into my local walgeens that I normally use, an hour later I walked out with my filled script of 180.
Andrews (save on) Garden city, MI
TOM- always had
This has become an ongoing problem all over the U.S. and I am not sure exactly why, but there may be some shortages going on, as well as new dispensing regulations.
The best suggestion I can make is that if you have insurance, I'd suggest you check with your prescription insurance provider and see if they have a mail order pharmacy that you can use. This has worked for many people that were having trouble getting their narcotic prescriptions filled.

Does anyone else have any ideas that may help?
To the poster in Detroit... were you able to find a pharmacy that carried the oxycodone 30mg? My wife was given a script from her hospice doc yesterday (Christmas eve, no less) and we tried about 6 pharmacies before they were all closed (even 24 hour ones claimed back order). She is out of her previous Rx as of this morning and can't get in touch with her doc. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
