Can Sulfamethoxazole Cause A Sore Throat

I have been prescribed Sulfamethoxazole-TMP. I have been on it for 4 days now, taking 2 pills a day and all of a sudden I have developed a sore throat with no other symptoms. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this side effect just a minor one or could it develop into something more serious?

It isn't a normal side effect. Have you consulted your doctor about it?

What type of infection are you being treated for? Could it be related to that?

OMG this just happened to me. I was taking it for a skin infection and got the worse sore throat. I could not figure out what it came from until I read your post!
