Can I take ling zhi supplement while breastfeeding? Does anyone know the pregnancy category?

Since ling zhi is a supplement derived from a type of mushroom, its safety during breast feeding has not been evaluated. The FDA warns women to check with their doctors, before taking anything new, to be certain whether or not it may pass through to the infant via your breast milk.

Dear new Mothers,

I breastfed children for at least two plus years each. I applaud all who choose to breastfeed as it is a wonderful gift of the perfect nutrition for your baby. It also supplements bonding between mother and baby. You are all correct to be concerned.

Anything that you put into your body also enters the babies by way of your milk. It is concerning that so many newly breastfeeding moms are asking this website for an answer to a question the babies Pediatrician should be asked. He or She will have the answer. In the meantime, I recommend that you discontinue use of the Zhi until you speak with babies doctor. You don't need to see the doctor. Call his or her office and ask that the doc call you regarding whether or not you can use Zhi. Lastly, if for some reason you cannot get through to or visit your babies doctor, ask your Pharmacist.
