Can You Help

My husband of 25 years has been going to his Dr. for almost 3 months. The Dr. put him on Phentermine 37.5 mg twice a day. He has been on this dosage almost a month. We have had our ups and downs in our marriage but very much in love. He seems not able to concentrate on his job,irritable, out of the blue wants a divorce this just is so out of character for him. Can taking 73mg of Phentermine cause these sir effects and wierd behavior?? I am really concerned. Yes he needs to loose weight starting out he weighed 454 pounds and in almost 3 months time he has lost almost 54 pounds. He also got some blood work done his thyroid is at .094. Can this be all be causing my husband to act so irrationally???

HI, KaySue! Sorry about what you're going through.

And yes, the Phentermine could be causing it. It basically acts as a stimulant, so it can do that in some people. He really should talk to his doctor, it may be that it just isn't the right medication for him to take, or it could be too high of a dosage and he may do better on a lower one.
