Can Metformin Cause Seizures If Dose Is Doubled?
UpdatedMy niece says a dr. told her she might have a seizure from taking 2 metformin by mistake. Is this true?

It is possible, but not a common occurrence, whether or not a seizure occurs may depend on other factors, as well, such as how low a person's blood sugar drops, other medical conditions they may have, and other medications they may be taking.
Typical side effects, according to the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, hypoglycemia, and increased urination.
It is, however, always best to be careful not to double up on your medications.
Is she taking anything else?
