Can I Take Tramadol While Being On Suboxone?

Hi! I am visiting my family in Texas from Atlanta. I have pinched a nerve in my shoulder since I've been here. The only thing my grandmother has to give me is Tramadol. I am hesitant to take it because I'm afraid it will screw me up and I won't be able to take my evening dose of suboxone 4mg. Does anyone have any advice on this?

I would advise against the Tramadol because (a) it is contraindicated while taking suboxone, and (b) it would most likely affect any lab work which your pm specialist would have you submit and you would risk being discontinued treatment. Instead, you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist if you can take an OTC pain medication such as Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, just don't take any other opioid type of medication.
