Can I Take Non Prescription Acetaminophen Along With My Oxycodone?

I recently had surgery on my throat and am experiencing extreme pain. I was prescribed Oxycodone 5mg, and told to take half a pill every four hours. However they only gave me enough for 5 days and I don't see this being enough for my recovery. Also, the Oxycodone alone doesn't really entirely do the job. Can I take non prescription acetaminophen along with my Oxycodone? I only have 500 mg tablets, so if I can what should the dosage be along with 1/2 a tablet of the 5mg Oxycodone??

Yes, if your doctor approves, you can take Acetaminophen with it, it does augment the action of opiates for some people.

The FDA limits the amount per dose in prescription medications to no more than 325mgs.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Just took Tylenol PM for pain in my legs and for sleeping. I had surgery one month ago. I normally just take my oxycodone 5/325 pills for my pain, but it keeps me up at night and I still have the pain in my legs. How long should I wait till I take my oxycodone pill?

Hi, How long do you have to have been taking oxycodone for you to become addicted? And how many mg per day? What are the different numbers in oxy and what do they mean? Thanks so much! I surely don't want that to happen to me as I've heard how hard it is for people to get off the drug!
