Can I Have Deep Gum Treatment While On Prolia?

I took prolia shot almost a year ago. I have gum disease for first time now. Can I safely get gum treatment and deep cleaning? Do I treat it differently because of Prolia? Do I risk worse infection? Do I take antibiotics first? Should I wait 6 more months to be more prolia free?

Here is what the National Institute of Health has to say on this matter.

[1] NIH Prolia Information Section 5.4
"For patients requiring invasive dental procedures, clinical judgment of the treating physician and/or oral surgeon should guide the management plan of each patient based on individual benefit-risk assessment."

Basically this means that it's going to be up to your doctor and dentist to determine what is safe and if your oral situation needs to be addressed immediately or can be set aside until a safer time. I hope this information helps and you have a happy holiday.
