Can I Take Xanax If Took Methadone 50 Hours Ago

i took three doses of methadone to taper down from from opiates. day one: 25 mg, day two: 20 mg, day three: 15 mg

it has been 50 hours since i have taken any methadone and dont plan on taking anymore. im feeling fine except not sleeping, so my main question is with the amount of methadone i have in me which at a 50% half life i should be at 7.5mg or less ... will it be safe to take .50mg of xanax to sleep? i just read a lot of bad things about this, my gut says the reason bad things happen are when people are abusing the two. Which in my case it wouldnt be - any advice or input would be great.

Yes, you are correct, the significant problems occur when people are severely abusing the two.

If you aren't, then the main thing that you have to watch for is that both Methadone and Alprazolam/Xanax can cause central nervous system depression. So you should know to watch for signs of it, such as lowered breathing rate, lowered blood pressure and lowered pulse rate.
