Tooth swelling at jaw, pretty sure it's infected. Pain is present! I have full prescription of Clarithromycin 500mg.

My mouth and gums are infected and it's not painful, but I'm just wondering if Clarithromycin can be used for that to cure the infection?
Hello, Donny! How are you?
It is a broad spectrum antibiotic that can be used to treat many types of bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
It will not, however, correct whatever underlying has caused the infection, so you should still consult your dentist.
Is there anything else I can help with?
