if my throat is sore and itchy and coughing up phlem can i use this medication to treat it as a preventive for a full blown chest infecton or strep throat

Make sure you're aware of the side-effects. Sure it's effective but it's chemo and the side-effects are devastating if you happen to be within the 1% of the population that react very badly to it. Just to make sure you know what I'm saying, let me tell you that this drug can cripple you.

I have dry cough last one month doctor checked and said acute pharyngitis tab augmentin 625 mg tds given for 4 days and levocet bd given I better but 3days later start cough with fever doctor give tab ciprofloxacin 500 mg bd these medicine is suitable for my problem other wise tell me medicine for me thank

script label has 500 mg 4 x day for a 15 yr old is this correct. he has bronchitis

I suggest you use Caps Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid 625mg twice daily for one week.

I have been waking up with no problems,with my Throat but after being up for a couple hours it feels sore and looks red. Saw my dr. Yesterday, and he gave me a rx for Amoxocillin. Forgot to tell him the last time I took it 5 years, ago I developed a rash. I have Cipro. Took one and plan on taking it until I can reach him on Monday. Am hoping it works. Never had a throat issue that would come and go. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Always always always finish your antibiotics whether you have pain or not! Or whether you think you are well enough to stop taking it or not! The antibiotics will kill the pain first and then work on the infection the rest of the time. If you don't the antibiotics for all of the days prescribed then theinfection will most definitely come back stronger and more resistant to the antibiotic that you did not finish!!! It's very important to finish all antibiotics when prescribed !

I has the same experience. Turns out it was post nasal drip and sleep apnea. She put me on nose sprays advair and pseuphed and advised me to get off animal products have a light dinner by 5:30 and lose weight. Also ordered scan of my sinuses.

I went to urgentcare 2 days ago prescribed 500mg cipro,for ear ache,bladder infection,2nd day looked in the back of my throat looks like I was getting strep throat but doc said nothing,and my chest is burning?

Sir to day my wife went to doctor due to fever headache and cold doctor gave ciprodac 500 and k- mol paracetamol after taking that tablet's she was getting her body full red and allergic and sweating immediately she went again and doctor made injection and said that tablet does not suit to your body

Actually that's levequin that can cause tendon rupture not cipro and it usually only affects the older community.

That was exactly my question. I think it's due to sinus drainage, sore throat, itchy and swollen glands. I have been taking this med for stepping on a nail. So there's no need to go in if the ciprofloxacin works for both. Thanks this saved me a trip and money which will make me feel better. Lol
