Can Celebrex Cause Faulty Heart Valves
UpdatedI have just been told I have a mild to moderate faulty heart valve I was taking 100g of Celebrex for 3-4 months earlier this year, I took myself off them as I never really felt well taking them, can Celebrex cause this problem? For some reason my blood pressure increased at an alarming rate even though I was taking a blood medication which was well under control. I am a non smoker, non drinker, and have always exercised and played some form of sport, what are your thoughts? I would be very interested to hear them.
Lynette.

Hello, Lynette! How are you?
Yes, Celebrex has been known to cause hypertension, in some people that take it and yes, it can also cause some aortic valve problems.
It isn't likely that you can prove that this was all caused by the Celebrex, but the possibility is there.
Is there anything else I can help with?
I had a bicuspid aortic heart valve that was found about 5 years ago and I have always felt fine. My doctor put me on a round of celebrex for a month. About a month after I was finished with it I was having having shortness of breath. I then had to have that valve replaced. I firmly believe it was the celebrex.
