Hi Diane,
Does your tongue also get a bit swollen as a result of the soreness? After taking a look at some of the side effects for this drug, I do believe it can cause your tongue to be sore:
"Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking amoxicillin / clavulanate: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat."

If your tongue is just sore and not necessarily swollen, I would still consider having it checked out by your doctor in the event that the pain is still occurring.
