I THOUGHT ACUTE PAROTIIS OR MUMS CAUSED BY VIRUS, WHY SHOULD DOCTOR SUGGEST CLAVAM? IS CLAVAM EFFECTIVE AGAINST MUMPS VIRUS?

No, you are correct, Clavam contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, it is an antibiotic and is not effective against viruses, it will only treat or prevent bacterial infections.
