Change From Seroquel To Abilify

My doc is about to change me from SEROQUEL to ABILIFY. I want to know if I am doing the right thing. Seroquel has been the main cause for my weight gain and my doc believes that Abilify is weight neutral. I also take Wellbutrin and Ritalin 20mg xr. She has also suggested Topamax. Any advise

The only way to see how a medication will work for you is by actually trying it. Others can chime in with their experiences, but we are all different and what works well for one person may not work well for another.

However, Abilify is not listed as being weight neutral, weight gain is reported by the FDA as one of its most common side effects, along with nausea, headache, blurred vision and dizziness.

Topamax is actually used, in some cases, for weight loss, so if weight is what you're worried about, it may be the better choice to try. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including fatigue, nausea, diarrhea and dizziness.

I was on topamax for depression and it curbed my appetite so yes I lost weight... It also helped me with the migraines that I have had since my teen years very few now!!
