Bystolic & High Potassium...

I started bystolic (5mg, now up to 10) a couple weeks ago. I got a test result of a high potassium level, which I know requires attention. I took supplements before all this started, but stopped immediately when I was put on meds. My dr says bystolic would not have caused this, more likely it was the supplements. My kidney panel was good. Has anyone had a potassium issue with bystolic?

Bystolic contains the active ingredient Nebivolol, which is a beta blocker that is used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions.

And though it is rare, it has happened with this class of medications, because they can inhibit potassium from entering your cells.

It could even have been a combination of the medication and the supplements you were taking.

Thanks so much. Turns out that clenching the fist during the phlebotomy can give a misreading with potassium testing. Apparently that is what happened to me. Everyone should be aware of this. It can lead to unnecessary treatment. Bystolic had nothing to do with it, and I have stopped supplementation.

I also had a high reading of potassium after starting Bystolic. I already have too much calcium and they can't find where its coming from. I to was thinking its the medication!!! Please help

My blood pressure has been very high. I take bystolic 5mg and also valsartan htcz 160 , had very low potassium level and had drip to bring it up. Since My pressure is very high at times some as high as 267/110 I am seeing a cardilogist and he is working to get it leveled out. He is taking me off valsartan. But I am still having problems. Any help.
